"Love At First Sight" Classical Music

What's that classical music I heard?

"Love At First Sight" Classical Music

Ah, falling in love. Picture two young lovers in a meadow running toward each other in slow motion. Or a fairy tale prince finally embracing his one true love. Or a man and a woman meeting glances across a crowded room for the first time... as the rest of the room goes quiet.

Quick, what music do you hear?

Chances are, it's the love theme from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's lengthy symphonic poem, "Romeo And Juliet Fantasy Overture."

The story of "Romeo & Juliet" has inspired several classical works, including those by Prokofiev, Berlioz and Gounod. But it is Tchaikovsky's theme that most famously captures the swelling feelings of romance between two star-crossed lovers.

The theme has been used to indicate passionate interest in such films as the 1992 comedy "Wayne's World," when Garth eyes his dream woman. Schwing!

It has also been used for similar purposes in television shows like Scrubs, Ren & Stimpy, and South Park, and is the kissing music in "The Sims" video game.
