Morning

I was wondering if you could tell me what the opening classical music to this episode is?

Thanks

We were able to view the episode here: http://www.hulu.com/watch/243572/glee-new-york (It's up for a limited time as Hulu only posts the last five episodes to air on TV.)

Your music is "Rhapsody In Blue" by George Gershwin.

iTunes: http://bit.ly/meNHfc

Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhapsody_in_Blue
YouTube: http://youtu.be/tcZlXZy4XIY

Although Gershwin himself spoke of the rhapsody as "a musical kaleidoscope of America," the piece has often been interpreted as a musical portrait of New York City, hence its usage in this episode of Glee.

Trivia about the piece:

Rhapsody in Blue has been used by United Airlines in their advertisements since the mid 1980s.

Rhapsody in Blue was played simultaneously by eighty-four pianists at the opening ceremony of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Ilia Kulik of Russia used the adaptation from Rhapsody in Blue in his Free Skate program in the 1998 Winter Olympics.

The piece was performed by Herbie Hancock and Lang Lang at the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008.

Enjoy!
